To some, Yeshivas Mevakshei Torah is a brand-new yeshiva, preparing to open its doors and welcome its first cadre of talmidim for the Summer Zman of תשפ"ז (Post-Pesach 2027). In many ways, however, Yeshivas Mevakshei Torah is anything but new. It is the natural continuation of decades of chinuch, harbatzas haTorah, and the shared vision of rebbeim who have devoted their lives to teaching, inspiring, and guiding aspiring bnei Torah.
For many years, Rabbi Avi Rosenbaum and Rabbi Sariel Malitzky shared a dream: to create a yeshiva specifically designed for young men returning from a year or two of learning in Eretz Yisrael. They envisioned a makom Torah where growth would continue in an environment that seamlessly blends high-level learning with genuine warmth. A vibrant beis medrash where talmidim develop close relationships with rebbeim who understand them, care deeply about them, and are fully invested in helping each talmid realize his unique potential.
Over the years, that vision was shaped by countless conversations, careful planning, and, most importantly, decades of experience. Rabbi Malitzky's years as a rebbe at TABC (Teaneck) and JEC (Elizabeth), together with his rabbanus at Congregation Ohr Torah (Edison), gave him the privilege of maintaining lifelong relationships with many talmidim. Watching their successes, challenges, and continued development helped crystallize his understanding of what young men need during this pivotal stage of life.
Rabbi Rosenbaum's years as rebbe at JEC, together with his vision and leadership of Camp Sports Kollel on the Ner Yisroel campus, afforded him a unique perspective on connecting with young men, inspiring them to grow, and helping them build lasting relationships with Torah learning and with their rebbeim.
The vision became a reality with the partnership of Rabbi Yisroel Kalish. A distinguished talmid chacham and respected lamdan, Rabbi Kalish brings decades of experience teaching, mentoring, and inspiring aspiring bnei Torah. As Rosh Kollel of Kollel Boker, he created a vibrant framework for young professionals to continue their Torah learning before the start of the workday. As Rosh Kollel of the night kollel for Bogrei Yeshivas Toras Moshe, he has helped countless talmidim deepen, clarify, and solidify their learning through shiurim and vaadim. In addition, for more than a decade as a Rosh Chaburah at Beth Medrash Govoha, Rabbi Kalish has guided and mentored hundreds of young men, helping them successfully transition from their years in Eretz Yisrael to the next stage of their growth in Torah.
Whether strengthening a talmid's learning, fostering his aspirations to become a talmid chacham, or providing thoughtful guidance through dating, shalom bayis, and life's major decisions, Rabbi Kalish has earned a reputation as a trusted address for aspiring bnei Torah seeking wisdom, encouragement, and direction.
Together, these rebbeim have created Yeshivas Mevakshei Torah to be more than simply another place to learn. It is a yeshiva dedicated to developing well-rounded bnei Torah who possess a genuine love of Torah, refined middos, strong relationships with their rebbeim, and the tools to build lives of meaningful avodas Hashem and gadlus in Torah.
While Yeshivas Mevakshei Torah is preparing to welcome its very first talmidim, the values upon which it is built have already been cultivated through decades of teaching, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to Klal Yisrael. In that sense, Yeshivas Mevakshei Torah is not beginning a new story. It is continuing one.
